What to expect

Children

If we are working outside of the school environment, before beginning the session, I'll talk to you about your child's medical history, birth story, and development to help build a qualitative, holistic picture of your child. In addition, if your child has seen an Anthroposophical doctor or received Eurythmy Therapy from another therapist, I will request that you contact the doctor or therapist and give consent for communications between us. I will ask you about your and your child's current goals and any specific issues you would like to be addressed.

The first session I will spend getting to know your child. After the first session, each session will offer specific movements to help your child take the next step in their development. The sessions will build up exercises that are most effective when practiced daily at home with the supervision of an adult. Every session ends with a rest which is included in the half-hour. For many children, you will see growth and change within seven sessions, meeting two to three times a week along with practicing at home. However, for some children, it will be most helpful to meet for more than one block of seven sessions.

During the sessions, you are welcome to be in the room or to have your child receive the sessions without you. If you are present for the session, expect to put your phone and reading away and potentially participate in the activities.

Adults

In the first session, I will invite you to share what has brought you to Eurythmy Therapy and any relevant medical history. If you have seen an Anthroposophical doctor or received Eurythmy Therapy from another therapist, I will request that you contact the doctor or therapist and give consent for communication between us. After talking, we will begin to move together. As the sessions progress we will talk less and move more. At the end of each session, there will be a time for you to rest, which is included in the hour.

How many sessions are needed is entirely individual and depends on what health concern we are working with. For acute issues, seven sessions are often enough to see a change, along with daily practice at home. For chronic concerns, more than one set of seven sessions may be helpful and supportive.
